Frequently Asked Questions
What is a granite-fronted niche?
A granite-fronted niche is a columbarium niche closed with an opaque granite or other selected-stone front, holding cremated remains behind a finished, private façade. Each one is made to order and built to the size, shape, and depth your space calls for.
Can granite-fronted niches be installed outdoors?
Yes. Unlike glass-fronted niches, which belong indoors, granite-fronted niches work indoors or outdoors. Granite handles weather, UV exposure, freeze-thaw cycles, and coastal salt air, which makes it the standard choice for outdoor columbaria.
How do granite-fronted niches differ from glass-fronted niches?
Granite is fully opaque and private, where glass puts the urn and mementos on view. Granite goes indoors or out, glass is indoor only. Build costs are comparable, and granite gives you a dignified option at a more accessible price point for families who want one.
Why do families choose granite over glass?
Privacy, tradition, and placement. Many families, often guided by religious or cultural practice, prefer that the contents of a loved one's niche stay private. Granite also serves the traditional outdoor garden setting that glass cannot.
What stone and color options are available?
Granite is the standard, chosen for its strength and permanence, and it comes in a wide range of colors and finishes. Where a project calls for it, we work in other natural stones as well, matched to your architecture and setting. The world is our color palette, so the front can be specified to suit the building, the grounds, and the look you want.
Can the front be personalized?
Yes. Options include engraving and nameplates, bronze emblems, letters, E-Z Plaques™, lights, vases, and photoceramics, so each niche carries a family's own story.
How are granite-fronted niches secured?
Granite-fronted niches can be secured on two levels. The stone front can be fitted with our patent-pending bronze Secure Rosette™ system, which holds the façade firmly while keeping it serviceable for future interments. For an added layer of protection, we can also install locks on the internal niche doors. The two are designed to work together, and both can be applied as a retrofit, not only to our own systems but to some systems originally built by other manufacturers.
Are granite-fronted niches custom?
Fully. Any size, shape, or depth, designed around your building or garden. We adapt to your space, not the other way around.
How many urns fit in a granite-fronted niche?
Most standard niches are sized for one standard urn, and because every niche is made to order, larger or companion sizes can hold more. Tell us the urns a family has chosen and we build to fit. For exact dimensions, speak with our team.
Do you offer traditional stone-only construction?
Yes. Our patented systems are versatile, and when a project calls for traditional stone-only construction, we build that too.
How long does installation take?
Built to order and ready for installation within 60 days. Most small to medium projects complete on-site in about a week, with larger or more complex builds varying by scope.
Can granite-fronted niches help a cemetery use space better?
Yes. Niches turn unused or underused indoor and outdoor areas into dignified, revenue-generating inventory, and one Global Bronze team can serve both casket and cremation families from a single design.
